Blackout of the FSA head-quarters in Aleppo, 2013

The Free Syrian Army centre is hidden in the city of Aleppo, to avoid bombing by government forces. During the day, rebels use their Kalashnikovs to fight on the frontline or organise rebel activities. Later at night they switch their guns for laptops and smartphones. Each person at the FSA centre has his own Facebook profile and spends hours on the Internet. The electricity supply is very unstable and every hour there are blackouts. Even then, in total darkness the FSA crew - officers, fighters or embedded journalists - continue to work on their battery-powered computers. 2013.
